Alabama Firecrackers

These Alabama Firecrackers are the ultimate low-effort, high-reward snack. The magic happens during the overnight “marination” process—the crackers slowly absorb the seasoned oil without becoming soggy, resulting in a crisp bite that packs a serious punch of heat and herbs.

Alabama Firecrackers
Ingredients:
| INGREDIENTS | AMOUNT |
| Saltine or Ritz-style crackers | 1 box (12 oz) |
| Olive oil (or avocado oil) | 3/4 cup |
| Chili flakes | 3 tablespoons |
| Italian seasoning | 2 tablespoons |
How To Make Alabama Firecrackers:
Step 1: Prepare the Crackers: Place the 12 oz box of crackers into a large, heavy-duty Ziploc bag. Using a bag is the best way to ensure every surface is coated without breaking the crackers.

Step 2: Add the Oil: Pour the 3/4 cup of olive oil directly into the bag over the crackers. Seal the bag tightly, leaving a little air inside, and gently toss and turn it until the crackers look evenly glistening.

Step 3: Seasoning: Open the bag and add the 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning and the 3 tablespoons of chili flakes. Reseal the bag and shake gently, flipping it over multiple times so the spices distribute evenly across every cracker.
Step 4: The Overnight Marination: This is the most important step! Leave the sealed bag on your counter at room temperature overnight. Every few hours (or whenever you walk by), flip the bag over to redistribute the oil and spices that settle at the bottom.
Step 5: Serve: The next day, the crackers will have absorbed the oil completely. Serve them as a bold standalone snack or as a spicy accompaniment to a cheese board.
