A little cafe in my town has this on their menu and it’s always been a favorite of mine!

A classic comfort food, Bread and Butter Pudding is a delightful dessert made with stale bread, rich custard, and warm spices. It’s a perfect way to use up leftover bread.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Bread slices 8
Raisins 1/3 cup
Cinnamon 2 teaspoons
Milk 1 1/2 cups
Heavy whipping cream 1/4 cup
Eggs 2 large
Granulated sugar 1/4 cup + extra for topping
Butter 2 tablespoons, softened

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Remove bread crusts and butter each slice.
  3. Layer half the bread in the baking dish, followed by raisins and cinnamon.
  4. Add the remaining bread.
  5. Whisk together milk, cream, eggs, and sugar.
  6. Pour custard over bread.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until set and golden.
  8. Sprinkle with extra sugar (optional).
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
