HOW TO MAKE MEAT PIE

Ingredients:

FOR THE DOUGH:

All-purpose flour 8 cups
Butter 250g
Eggs (1 for brushing) 3
Salt 1 tsp
Sugar 1 tbsp
Baking powder 1 tsp
Cold water 1/4 cup (60ml)

FOR THE FILLING:

Ground beef 350g
Potato, peeled and diced 1
Large Onion, chopped 1
Large Carrot, peeled and diced 1
Water/beef broth 1 cup (240ml)
Salt To taste
Pepper (Optional)
Thyme 1 tsp
Flour 2 tbsp
Oil 2 tbsp

Instructions:

MAKING THE DOUGH:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add butter and rub it with the flour until you get a crumbly texture.
  3. Beat 2 eggs and add them to the flour mixture, mix until the dough is formed. Cover for 30 minutes.

MAKING THE FILLING:

  1. In a large pan, heat oil. Add onion and sauté for 5-6 minutes.
  2. Add the ground meat and fry for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add the diced carrots, season with salt, pepper, thyme, and flour.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Roll out the dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out a round shape with your desired size.
  5. Place about 1-2 tablespoons of the meat mixture in the center and fold over the dough using the meat pie cutter or you can fold and use a fork to seal the edge.
  6. Poke the pies with a fork to create a steam outlet.
  7. Brush the pies with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden.
