4-Ingredient Smashed Potato Bake

This 4-ingredient potato bake is one of those dishes that looks far fancier than the effort it takes. My neighbor brought a version to our Memorial Day cookout last year, and the crock pot was scraped clean in minutes.

The magic is in the contrast: golden, crispy edges on top with ultra-creamy centers underneath — all done right in your slow cooker so the oven stays free. It’s the perfect side when you’re juggling work, kids, and a holiday menu but still want something indulgent and special.

Serve straight from the slow cooker for that cozy, family-style vibe. These potatoes pair beautifully with grilled burgers, brats, or steak, but they’re just as good alongside baked chicken, meatloaf, or even a crisp green salad. For balance, add something crunchy like coleslaw or corn salad, plus a tangy side like pickles or cucumber salad. Feeding a crowd? Round it out with a fruit platter and a make-ahead dessert like brownies or bars.
