4-Ingredient Baked French Onion Chicken

This dish is the definition of cozy comfort: tender chicken baked in rich, oniony sauce and topped with melty cheese. It borrows all the flavor of classic French onion soup but keeps things simple with just a handful of ingredients. Perfect for busy weeknights, it feels a little special without demanding much effort—just slide it into the oven and let the aroma make everyone linger at the table.

Serve it over buttery mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice so the savory juices have somewhere to soak in. For lighter sides, pair with steamed green beans, a crisp salad, or roasted broccoli. On chilly nights, add crusty bread to mop up the sauce—or shred the chicken and tuck it into toasted rolls for a French onion–style sandwich.
