Meat and Potato Casserole

This hearty layered casserole combines seasoned ground beef, tender sliced potatoes, and a creamy mushroom sauce, all baked under a layer of melted cheese.

Meat and Potato Casserole

Ingredients:

Dried Rosemary 1 tsp
Garlic Powder 1 tsp
Onion, Chopped 1
Heavy Whipping Cream 1/4 cup
Beef Broth 1/2 cup
Cream Of Mushroom Soup 1 Can
Potatoes, Peeled And Thinly Sliced 5
Shredded Cheese 1/1/2 cup
Salt And Pepper To Taste

How To Make Meat and Potato Casserole:

Step 1: Prep Oven and Meat: Heat the oven to 350F (175C), and grease a 9 x 13 baking dish well. Cook the 1 Lb ground beef and 1 chopped onion over medium-high heat on the stove until the onions are tender and the meat is browned. Drain the excess fat.

Step 2: Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, combine the 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/2 cup beef broth, 1 tsp dried rosemary, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined.

Step 3: First Layer: Layer half of the 5 thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish. Top this with one-third (1/3) of the soup mixture and half (1/2) of the meat mixture.

Step 4: Second Layer: Repeat the layering with the remaining half of the potatoes, another one-third (1/3) of the soup mixture, and the remaining half of the meat mixture.

Step 5: Top and Bake: Top the entire casserole with the remaining one-third (1/3) of the soup mixture and then evenly sprinkle with the 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese. Cover the baking dish tightly in foil and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are completely tender when pierced with a fork.

Step 6: Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot.
