How To Make Wet Burritos:

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Step 2: Brown the Ground Beef and Onion: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown the 1 lb ground beef and 1/2 cup chopped onion.1 Stir until evenly browned and the onion begins to soften.
  3. Step 3: Season and Blend: Drain excess grease. Season the mixture with 2 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp pepper. Stir in the 4 1/2 oz diced green chile peppers and 16 oz refried beans until well blended. Keep the mixture warm.
  4. Step 4: Prepare the Sauce: In a saucepan, combine 8 oz tomato sauce, 15 oz no-bean chili, and 10 oz enchilada sauce. Whisk together and heat over medium heat until well mixed and heated through. Keep the sauce warm.
  5. Step 5: Assemble the Burritos: Divide the beef and bean mixture into 6 portions. On each tortilla, place a portion of the mixture, top with a portion of the 3 cups shredded cheese and 2 cups shredded lettuce. Fold the tortilla to create an envelope, ensuring no filling can escape.
  6. Step 6: Baking: Place the burritos seam side down in two greased 9×13 oven-safe dishes. Pour the prepared sauce over them and sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly. Bake for 15-20 minutes until heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Step 7: Toppings: Garnish with chopped green onions, and additional desired toppings such as sour cream, dried chives, or tomato.
