Ingredient Quantity
Lasagna noodles 9
Ground beef 1 pound
Small onion, chopped 1
Garlic, minced 2 cloves
Marinara sauce 1 jar (24 ounces)
Ricotta cheese 1 container (15 ounces)
Egg 1
Shredded mozzarella cheese 2 cups
Grated Parmesan cheese ½ cup
Salt and pepper To taste
Olive oil 1 tablespoon

How To Make Classic Beef Lasagna:

  1. Step 1: Prep & Cook Noodles: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Make Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Step 3: Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and egg, mixing well.
  4. Step 4: Assemble Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella cheese, and a third of the remaining meat sauce. Repeat the layers once more. Top with the final three noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and all of the Parmesan cheese.
  5. Step 5: Bake & Serve: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
