Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Large apple 1
Pillsbury Crescent dough 1 can
Butter 1/2 cup
Sugar 2/3 cups
Cinnamon 1/2 tsp
Vanilla 1/2 tsp
7-Up or equivalent soda 3/4 cup (6 oz)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven & Prep Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish thoroughly.
  2. Prepare Apple: Cut the apple into 8-10 wedges. Peel the apple skin off each wedge.
  3. Wrap Apples in Dough: Separate the crescent roll dough into individual triangles. For easier wrapping, you can lightly pat each apple wedge dry. Roll each apple wedge in a crescent roll dough triangle, starting at the wide end and rolling towards the narrow tip. Pinch the dough firmly to seal it and ensure the apple is completely covered.
  4. Arrange in Dish: Place the wrapped apple dumplings seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Make Cinnamon Syrup: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Heat the mixture, whisking constantly to combine. The mixture will slowly come together and thicken. Once it’s thickened to a syrup-like consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
  6. Pour Syrup & Soda: Pour the warm cinnamon mixture evenly over all the apple dumplings in the baking dish. Then, carefully pour the 7-Up (or equivalent soda) over the dumplings and syrup.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
  8. Serve: Let the dumplings cool slightly before serving. These are delicious warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
