I’ve never quite understood the appeal of “Hamburger Helper”—why rely on a box mix when you can whip up something just as quick and far more flavorful yourself? All it takes is some pasta, a pound of ground beef, and a few pantry staples to create a homemade dish that’s rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Case in point: this Garlic Butter Beef Pasta. It’s a one-pot wonder that comes together in under thirty minutes—simple, right? And with its velvety, garlicky goodness, there’s just no way to replicate this kind of comfort from a box.

Ingredients
Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Butter | 2 tablespoons |
Ground beef | 1 lb |
Garlic, minced | 4 cloves |
Onion powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Garlic powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Italian seasoning | 1/2 teaspoon |
Chicken broth | 2 cups |
Heavy cream | 1 cup |
Parmesan cheese, freshly grated | 1/2 cup |
Linguine or fettuccine | 8 oz |
Fresh parsley, chopped (for serving) | As desired |
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper | To taste |
Preparation
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning, mixing well.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, then add the pasta. Stir to ensure the pasta is fully submerged in the liquid.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, then cover and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed. If needed, add more broth or water to maintain moisture.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve and enjoy!
