This simple compound butter is packed with bright Italian flavors from sun-dried tomatoes, basil, and garlic, perfect for spreading on bread or using in cooking.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Unsalted butter 1 cup (2 sticks), room temperature
Sun-dried tomatoes 2 tablespoons, drained and finely chopped
Fresh basil 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
Garlic 1/2 tablespoon, minced
Salt 1/4 teaspoon (or to taste)
Baguette or French roll For serving

Instructions:

  1. Place the softened unsalted butter in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat the butter until it becomes light and fluffy.
  2. Add the drained and finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped fresh basil, and minced garlic to the bowl with the butter.
  3. Beat all the ingredients together until they are thoroughly combined and evenly distributed throughout the butter.
  4. Sprinkle in the salt, adding it a little at a time and tasting as you go, to reach your desired level of seasoning. You may need to add slightly more or less than 1/4 teaspoon depending on your preference.
  5. Transfer the prepared Italian compound butter to a mason jar or another airtight serving container.
  6. To serve, spread the compound butter generously on slices of baguette or a French roll. Enjoy the burst of Italian flavor!
