Baking Powder 2 teaspoons
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Hot Water 1 1/2 cups
Frying Oil As needed

Instructions:

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, add flour, baking powder, and salt and mix well.
  2. Add Water and Mix: Add the hot water and stir with a spoon. The dough will be sticky.
  3. Rest the Dough: Form the dough into a ball and leave it covered for 45 minutes.
  4. Divide the Dough: Separate the dough into 12-16 balls.
  5. Shape the Frybread: Using your palms and fingertips, press each dough ball into a thin, round circle about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  6. Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat (or in a deep fryer) until hot.
  7. Fry the Bread: Add one piece of bread at a time to the hot oil and cook until golden brown, then flip. This will take about a minute on each side, but the time may vary depending on how hot the oil is.
  8. Drain: Remove the frybread from the oil and let it dry on paper towels.
  9. Enjoy: Serve the frybread warm.
