Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ground beef 1 pound
Onion, finely chopped 1 small
Garlic, minced 2 cloves
All-purpose flour 1/4 cup
Beef broth 2 cups
Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon
Salt and pepper To taste
Mashed potatoes 4 cups (homemade or prepared)
Parsley, chopped fresh (optional) 2 tablespoons

Instructions:

  1. Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Sauté onions and garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Make the roux: Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well, cooking for another minute to get rid of the raw flour taste.
  4. Add broth and simmer: Gradually stir in the beef broth, making sure to mix well to prevent lumps. Add the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Prepare mashed potatoes: While the gravy is simmering, prepare your mashed potatoes if you haven’t already.
  6. Assemble and serve: To serve, spoon a generous portion of the beef and gravy mixture over a bed of mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
