Directions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and vanilla essence.
- Add the melted butter and mix well.
- Gradually add the lukewarm milk, kneading the dough until smooth.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 2-3 hours.
- Shape the Donuts:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Use a glass to cut out donut shapes and a small cap or round cookie cutter for the donut holes.
- Cook the Donuts:
- Fry the donuts in low to medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Alternatively, bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12-15 minutes, or according to your oven settings.
- Drain the Donuts:
- Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a wire rack over a baking sheet to drain excess oil, or on paper towels to absorb the oil.

- Make the Chocolate Glaze:
- In a small mixing bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate chips with heavy cream and unsalted butter until smooth.
- Glaze the Donuts:
- Dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze and place them back on the wire rack to cool and allow the glaze to harden. Add sprinkles if desired.
- Enjoy:
- Serve and enjoy your homemade donuts!
