Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Carrots 1 pound, peeled and sliced
Butter 4 tablespoons
Brown sugar 1/3 cup, packed
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper 1/4 teaspoon
Optional A pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg, 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Carrots: Peel and slice carrots into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Cook in boiling water for 5-7 minutes, or until tender. Drain.
  2. Make the Glaze: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Add optional ingredients (cinnamon, nutmeg, orange juice) if desired.
  3. Glaze the Carrots: Add cooked carrots to the skillet with the glaze. Toss to coat. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until glaze thickens.
