Homemade Apple Cider Vinegar Recipe

Making your own apple cider vinegar is a rewarding and satisfying process. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also a versatile ingredient for cooking, cleaning, and personal care.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Apple scraps (cores and peels) From 6-8 apples
Sugar 2 tablespoons
Filtered or non-chlorinated water Enough to submerge the apple scraps

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Apples: Gather apple scraps or cut whole apples into chunks. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Start Fermentation: Place apple scraps in a clean jar. Add sugar and water. Stir to dissolve sugar.
  3. Cover and Ferment: Cover jar with cheesecloth or coffee filter. Store in a dark, room-temperature place for 3-4 weeks. Stir occasionally.
  4. Strain and Continue Fermenting: Strain liquid into a clean jar. Cover and store for another 3-4 weeks.
  5. Bottle and Store: Taste vinegar. If ready, bottle and store in a cool, dark place.
