Turtle Caramel Cake Recipe

This decadent Turtle Caramel Cake is a delightful combination of rich chocolate, sweet caramel, and crunchy pecans. The moist German chocolate cake provides the perfect base for the gooey caramel layer and the creamy chocolate frosting.

Eggs 3
Canola Oil 1/2 cup
Whole Milk 1 cup

For the Caramel Layer:

Evaporated Milk 1 can (12 oz)
Unsalted Butter, melted 1/2 cup
Semisweet Chocolate Chips 1 cup
Butterscotch Chips 1 cup
Chopped Pecans 1 cup

For the Frosting:

Chocolate Fudge Frosting 1 container (16 oz)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Cake Batter: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan. Combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and milk. Beat until well combined. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare Caramel Layer: In a saucepan, combine caramel bits and 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Stir until melted and smooth. Add melted butter.
  3. Assemble Cake: Pour caramel mixture over partially baked cake layer. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and pecans. Pour remaining cake batter over the top.
  4. Bake: Return cake to oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Cool: Let cake cool completely in the pan.
  6. Frost: Heat chocolate fudge frosting until pourable and spread over cooled cake.
