Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Milk | 2 cups |
Egg | 1 |
Vanilla extract | 2 teaspoons |
All-purpose flour | 2 cups |
Salt | Pinch |
Baking soda | 1 teaspoon |
Sugar | 2 tablespoons |
Melted butter | 6 tablespoons |
Vegetable oil (for frying) | Enough to fill a skillet 2 inches deep |
Powdered sugar (for dusting) | As needed |
Instructions:
- Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until smooth. Stir in melted butter.
- Heat the oil: Pour vegetable oil into a large, deep skillet or pot. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the funnel cake bites: Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil. Fry in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Dust with powdered sugar: Once cooled slightly, dust funnel cake bites generously with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy!
