Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
All-purpose flour 3 1/4 cups
Baking powder 2 tablespoons
Granulated sugar 2 tablespoons
Kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon
Cold unsalted butter, cubed 3/4 cup
Buttermilk 1 1/2 cups
Irish white cheddar, shredded 1 1/4 cups
Scallions, thinly sliced 3/4 cup
Egg 1
Cold water 1 tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in Butter: Cut cold butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in buttermilk, cheddar cheese, and scallions.
  5. Form Biscuits: Knead dough slightly, pat into a rectangle, and cut out biscuits.
  6. Prepare Egg Wash: Whisk together egg and water.
  7. Brush Biscuits: Brush egg wash on the tops of biscuits.
  8. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
