Honey Bun Cake captures the flavors of everyone’s favorite pastry in a moist and delightful cake. This recipe combines a simple cake batter with a gooey cinnamon sugar layer and a sweet honey drizzle, all topped with a luscious vanilla glaze.

Ingredients:

Yellow cake mix 1 box
Vegetable oil 3/4 cup
Large eggs 4
Sour cream 1 cup
Packed brown sugar 1 cup
Ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon
Honey 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar 2 cups
Milk 1/4 cup
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.
  5. Drizzle the honey over the brown sugar and cinnamon layer.
  6. Gently pour the remaining batter over the top, spreading it to cover the brown sugar and honey layer.
  7. Use a knife to swirl the batter slightly, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the top and allow it to set before serving.
